Certification is granted to addiction counsellors who have met the "standards criteria" set by the Examining Board of the CCPC. The application process provides the opportunity for the applicant to demonstrate adequate skill, knowledge and competence as an addiction counsellor.
Applicants must have a minimum of 4,000 hours of practical experience in the addiction field providing direct, supervised counselling services to clients, utilizing the Core Competencies as defined in the CAC II manual under “Experience”. They must also have 200 hours of Drug & Alcohol specific training as outlined under “Education” in the manual.

Keeping Your Certification in Good Standing
To keep your certification in good standing you must renew annually at your anniversary date. Certificate holders will receive notification 30 days prior to this date from the CCPC.
