Certification as a Registered Clinical Supervisor is granted to applicants who have already obtained their certification as a Certified Addictions Counsellor II (CAC II), Certified Gambling Counsellor (CGC), or equivalent for a minimum of five (5) years.

Applicants must have two (2) years of supervisory experience in the field of addictions. This experience may be acquired within the five year period of certification.

Applicants must also have specific management training in the following areas:
• Management theory
• Communication skills
• Employee relations
• Decision-making skills/Leadership
• Teambuilding
• Conflict resolution
• Crisis/stress management
• Professional ethics/ethical dilemmas
• Legal responsibilities of addiction counsellors.
• Time Management
• Performance Appraisal

Elective
• Clinical Supervisor as expert witness
• Collective bargaining process

Keeping Your Certification in Good Standing
To keep your certification in good standing you must renew annually at your anniversary date. Certificate holders will receive notification 30 days prior to this date from the CCPC.
